OGŁOSZENIA / ANNOUNCEMENTS

STO LAT! Blessings and past wishes to Kennedy McCormick on her 10th birthday! Wszystkiego dobrego!

LUNCH AFTER MASS: Everyone is welcome. There is no charge. Thanks to everyone who contributed a dish to share!

SHORT LITERARY READING DURING LUNCH: We’re participating in the “Narodowe Czytanie”. This is an annual undertaking where Polish communities around the world focus on the same text/author. This year it’s Eliza Orzeszkowa’s On The Niemen. Part of this 1888 novel are rivalries between families, the legacy of the 1863 uprising to liberate Poland from occupation, and a gradual fading of class differences. Love and intrigue are there, too. And the descriptions of places are captivating and vivid. At the lunch, we will give everyone a souvenir bookmark that we have created to mark the literary reading today. It has Eliza Orzeszkowa’s profile (nominee for the Nobel Prize in literature) and very brief synopses of some of her novels that are available in English. We have copies of On the Niemen in English in our parish library. Thank you to the Pogoria Polish Folk Ensemble for leading the singing during the reading! During the lunch, we will also acknowledge our choir on the occasion of this week’s Feast Day of St. Cecilia. The whole parish is very grateful!

SYLWESTRA / NEW YEAR’S EVE TICKETS: Will be on sale during lunch after Mass. $15. DJ Robin Krszwda. 9:00pm to 1:00am at the Polish Village Hall. Light supper. It’s always a very enjoyable event.

PIEROGI: Have sold out. Thanks for all the help with the parish fund-raiser!

BOTTLES AND CANS COLLECTION FOR UKRAINIAN HUMANITARIAN RELIEF EFFORTS: In support of our Ukrainian humanitarian relief efforts, Marjorie Ardelli and Paul MacKinnon are very kindly continuing to collect recyclable bottles. They would welcome any redeemable bottles. Thanks to fellow parishioners for recent contributions of bottles and cans. Our parish has been supporting sister city Walbrzych’s Ukrainian relief efforts, plus the Catholic Near East Welfare Association and the Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace.

FOOD CUPBOARD: Many thanks for bringing any non-perishable contributions to Mass.

OUR POLISH-THEMED RADIO SEGMENTS: The Coast Radio 89.7 (weekdays at 3:50pm and 7:50pm or any time at coastalradio.ca). This coming week's segment will be about the Polish word for November “listopad”. Thank you to Wanda Pierrynowski for lending her voice and to Bob Lewandowski, this week’s sponsor of the St. Michael’s Polish Benefit Society.
We’re looking for sponsors and volunteers for the radio segments. It’s $100 for a whole week to sponsor. Sponsors are recognized on air – and any dedications, too (eg. if you’re sponsoring as a memorial or as a birthday or anniversary gift). The Coast is generously redirecting the sponsorships back to the St. Michael’s Polish Benefit Society (which produces the segments), which has been a big help to the Society. If you think you might like to sponsor a week, please e-mail tom_urbaniak@cbu.ca or call 563-1226. Many thanks!

COLLECTION FOR NOVEMBER 12: $ unavailable. Thank you for your generosity and crucial support to carry on the work, ministry, and operation of our parish.

THANKS VERY KINDLY FOR YOUR DONATIONS TO OUR PARISH : Donations may be made during weekly Sunday Mass collection. Also, please feel free to use the mail: St. Mary’s Polish Parish, 21 Wesley St., Sydney, NS, B1N 2M5. Donations can also be made securely on-line at Canada Helps (which will email you an instant tax receipt):   https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/st-marys-polish-parish/. (link to this site is provided on our parish website homepage). Thanks for your support!

PARISH ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING will take place after Mass on Sunday, November 26. We will have financial updates and other updates to share with fellow parishioners. Anyone who might consider offering for the Rada or nominating someone, please speak with Marjorie Ardelli, contact person for the Nominations Committee (902-577-1997).

ŚWIĘTY MIKOŁAJ (ST. NICHOLAS) visit will take place after Mass on December 10. He will bring small presents for children. Our December parish lunch will be held that day.
