OGŁOSZENIA / ANNOUNCEMENTS

BLESSINGS ON REMEMBRANCE DAY WEEKEND / HAPPY POLISH INDEPENDENCE DAY DZIĘKUJEMY NASZYM WETERANOM / THANK YOU TO OUR VETERANS: May God bless you. We pray for all veterans, including the deceased veterans of St. Mary’s Polish Parish. In tribute to them, the following is the refrain from Czerwone Maki na Monte Cassino – literally Red Poppies on Monte Cassino – by Feliks Konarski, which is almost like a Polish version of In Flanders Fields: Przejdą lata i wieki przeminą,/ Pozostaną ślady dawnych dni!../ I tylko maki na Monte Cassino Czerwieńsze będą, bo z polskiej wzrosną krw

LUNCH AFTER MASS NEXT SUNDAY: Thank you to everyone who can bring a dish to share!

SHORT LITERARY READING DURING LUNCH NEXT SUNDAY AFTER MASS. We’re participating in the “Narodowe Czytanie”. This is an annual practice where Polish communities around the world focus on the same text. This year it’s Eliza Orzeszkowa’s On The Niemen. If you would like to read a few sentences, in English or Polish, please speak with Tom Urbaniak.

NEW YEAR’S EVE TICKETS: Will be on sale during lunch after Mass next Sunday. $15. DJ Robin Krszwda. 9:00pm to 1:00am at the Polish Village Hall. Light supper. It’s always a very enjoyable event.

PIEROGI: Thanks for all the dedication this week. Pierogi will be on sale at 10:30am (in other words shortly after Mass), while supplies last for $15 per dozen as a fund-raiser for the parish. Lots of gratitude for the very good turnout of volunteers this week! Thank you to Stephanie, Wayne, Jean Annette, Sophie, Roddie, Marilyn, Joe, Robert, Marjorie, Carolyn, Ursula, Jancia L., Toni, Jancia L., Peggy, Kevin, Linda, Carolyn M., Frank, Wandzi, Bernie P., Jo-Ann, Deanie, Lynette. BOTTLES AND CANS COLLECTION FOR UKRAINIAN HUMANITARIAN RELIEF EFFORTS: In support of our Ukrainian humanitarian relief efforts, Marjorie Ardelli and Paul MacKinnon are very kindly continuing to collect recyclable bottles. They would welcome any redeemable bottles. Thanks to fellow parishioners for recent contributions of bottles and cans. Our parish has been supporting sister city Walbrzych’s Ukrainian relief efforts, plus the Catholic Near East Welfare Association and the Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace.

FOOD CUPBOARD: Many thanks for bringing any non-perishable contributions to Mass.

OUR POLISH-THEMED RADIO SEGMENTS: The Coast Radio 89.7 (weekdays at 3:50pm and 7:50pm or any time at coastalradio.ca). This coming week's segment will be about the literary reading coming up after Mass on Sunday, November 19. Thank you to Bob Lewandowski for lending his voice!
We’re looking for sponsors and volunteers for the radio segments. It’s $100 for a whole week to sponsor. Sponsors are recognized on air – and any dedications, too (eg. if you’re sponsoring as a memorial or as a birthday or anniversary gift). The Coast is generously redirecting the sponsorships back to the St. Michael’s Polish Benefit Society (which produces the segments), which has been a big help to the Society. If you think you might like to sponsor a week, please e-mail tom_urbaniak@cbu.ca or call 563-1226. Many thanks!
