OGŁOSZENIA / ANNOUNCEMENTS

STO LAT! Best wishes and many blessings to Father Evo on his birthday!

DZIĘKUJEMY! A sincere note of thanks for last Sunday’s First Communion Sunday – to the First Communicants – Isabella, Kennedy, Adrijana, Matthew, Sawyer, and Tatum -- and their families, to everyone who brought food, to Nicole for the table settings, to Ursula and Eileen for the beautiful flowers, to Joan’s for the cake, to Sophie, Roddie, and Wayne for the coffee and tea, to catechist Marjorie, to Bishop Wayne and Father Rich (including for the sacramental preparation), to John for the work on the grounds, to volunteers who keep the church operating day after day, to our choir and altar server Bernie, to everyone who helped with clean up, and everyone who helped in any way – may God bless you.

NOTE OF THANKS - PRE-CHRISTMAS BAZAAR: Thanks to everyone for the pre-Christmas bazaar yesterday. Thanks to Nicole for co-ordinating!

READING OF VETERANS’ NAMES FROM OUR PARISH AND SPECIAL PRAYERS will take place next Sunday at Mass.

PIEROGI-MAKING: This is a call-out for volunteers for pierogi-making, with gratitude to anyone who can spare some time. New volunteers are welcomed, and no previous experience is required. Potato-peeling will start Sunday (today) at 1:30pm in the church. And then pierogi-making Monday, Tuesday and (if needed) Wednesday at 10:00am.

LITERARY CHALLENGE FOR UPCOMING POLISH INDEPENDENCE DAY: Last year, for the first time, we took part in a literary challenge bringing together Polish communities around the world. We did a reading from a famous poem (by Adam Mickiewicz) that was the featured text last year. This year, the featured text for Polish communities around the world is a famous 1888 novel by Eliza Orzeszkowa. It’s called Nad Niemnem. It’s translated into English as On the Niemen. To mark Polish Independence Day, we will have lunch after Mass on November 19 (a week after Independence Day) and do some short readings from this novel. Would you like to read a paragraph in Polish or English or a bit of both? We’ll have some fun with this and discover some Polish literature at the same time. Please let Tom Urbaniak know if you’d like to do a little reading. We now have a few copies of the novel in English. That weekend, we will also have some visitors, who will be here for the Annual General Meeting of the Atlantic Canada District of the Canadian Polish Congress.

VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION FOR POLISH HERITAGE MONTH: An invitation to anyone who helped in any way (eg. Any events, preparation of Polish dinners, etc). Informal gathering of appreciation with some food and refreshments at 7:00pm on Saturday, November 18. Please RSVP to Tom Urbaniak (tom_urbaniak@cbu.ca; 902-563-1226).

BOTTLES AND CANS COLLECTION FOR UKRAINIAN HUMANITARIAN RELIEF EFFORTS: In support of our Ukrainian humanitarian relief efforts, Marjorie Ardelli and Paul MacKinnon are very kindly continuing to collect recyclable bottles. They would welcome any redeemable bottles. Thanks to fellow parishioners for recent contributions of bottles and cans. Our parish has been supporting sister city Walbrzych’s Ukrainian relief efforts, plus the Catholic Near East Welfare Association and the Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace.

FOOD CUPBOARD: Many thanks for bringing any non-perishable contributions to Mass.

OUR POLISH-THEMED RADIO SEGMENTS: The Coast Radio 89.7 (weekdays at 3:50pm and 7:50pm or any time at coastalradio.ca). This coming week's segment will be about Polish Independence Day/Remembrance Day, both on November 11. Many thanks to Bernie Paruch for lending his voice. And many thanks to Rosalie Starzomski for sponsoring this week in memory of the deceased members of the Starzomski and Mayich families.
We’re looking for sponsors and volunteers for the radio segments. It’s $100 for a whole week to sponsor. Sponsors are recognized on air – and any dedications, too (eg. if you’re sponsoring as a memorial or as a birthday or anniversary gift). The Coast is generously redirecting the sponsorships back to the St. Michael’s Polish Benefit Society (which produces the segments), which has been a big help to the Society. If you think you might like to sponsor a week, please e-mail tom_urbaniak@cbu.ca or call 563-1226. Many thanks!

COLLECTION FOR OCTOBER 29: $1,407.00. Thank you for your generosity and crucial support to carry on the work, ministry, and operation of our parish.

THANKS VERY KINDLY FOR YOUR DONATIONS TO OUR PARISH : Donations may be made during weekly Sunday Mass collection. Also, please feel free to use the mail: St. Mary’s Polish Parish, 21 Wesley St., Sydney, NS, B1N 2M5. PARISH ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING will take place after Mass on Sunday, November 26. We will have financial updates and other updates to share with fellow parishioners. Anyone who might consider offering for the Rada or nominating someone, please speak with Marjorie Ardelli, contact person for the Nominations Committee (902-577-1997).

ŚWIĘTY MIKOŁAJ (ST. NICHOLAS) visit will take place after Mass on December 10. He will bring small presents for children. Our December parish lunch will be held that day.

Pod Twą obronę, Ojcze na niebie,/grono Twych dzieci swój powierza los,
Ty nam błogosław, ratuj w potrzebie/ i broń od zguby, gdy zagraża cios.
For thy protection, Heavenly Father/We Thy own children / lift our voice to pray/ O do not leave us, to our strength, but rather/ Save us from evil / tempting us each day

Offertory: Nie Opuszczaj Nas (Jesus, Remain With Us)
Nie opuszczaj nas, nie opuszczaj nas / Jezu nie opuszczaj nas!

2.W sercu Twojem tylko Panie/ i pociecha i wytrwanie, Nie opuszczaj nas …

Communion: Któż by nie ukochał Cię - choir

Post-Communion: Dawna Polski Tyś Królową (You are Queen of Poland Through the Ages)

2. Gdyś pod krzyżem Syna stała, Maryjo./ Tyleś za nas wycierpiała, Maryjo,/ Przez swego Syna cierpienie/ Daruj nasze przewinienia,/ Udziel łaski przebaczenia, Maryjo!
