The third Mass by Father Rich in Las Vegas will be later announced in the bulletin. Remember this is the month of the Holy Rosary. Please try to pray this powerful instrument of prayer at home, on the road, walking in the park or even better, as a couple or a family. We need prayers for this troubled world and society. Have a blessed week! – Fr. Rich

WYPOMINKI: Please submit names of deceased loved ones to Father Rich for special prayers, which will start at Mass today (Sunday)

CEMETERY PRAYERS:This afternoon! Father Rich will have cemetery prayers this afternoon (Sunday) as follows:
1. Forest Haven Memorial Gardens 1:00pm
2. St Theresa Parish Cemetery 1:20pm
3. New Calvary Cemetery 1:45 pm
4. Old Calvary Cemetery 2:10 pm
5. Hardwood Hill (Fr. Leo’s grave) 2:30 pm
6. Resurrection Cemetery (Sydney Forks) 3:00pm

PREPARING FOR SUNDAY, OCTOBER 29 FIRST COMMUNION: This will be a very special day for our parish. We would like to kindly ask everyone to try to be present for Mass to support our youth parishioners on their holy, special day. Bishop Wayne Kirkpatrick will join us. We will have lunch after Mass. Thank you to anyone who can bring a dish to share. We will have a congratulatory cake and make a little presentation to the First Communion candidates.

LITERARY CHALLENGE FOR UPCOMING POLISH INDEPENDENCE DAY: Last year, for the first time, we took part in a literary challenge bringing together Polish communities around the world. We did a reading from a famous poem (by Adam Mickiewicz) that was the featured text last year. This year, the featured text for Polish communities around the world is a famous 1888 novel by Eliza Orzeszkowa. It’s called Nad Niemnem. It’s translated into English as On the Niemen. To mark Polish Independence Day, we will have lunch after Mass on November 19 (a week after Independence Day) and do some short readings from this novel. Would you like to read a paragraph in Polish or English or a bit of both? We’ll have some fun with this and discover some Polish literature at the same time. Please let Tom Urbaniak know if you’d like to do a little reading. A few copies of the novel in English have been ordered.

DRAFT BANNERS about our Polish community (which will be part of a larger mobile exhibit that will be based/stored at the Polish Village Hall) – prepared by the Beaton Institute -- are up for your input and feedback. You can look at these in the Sala 1050 after Mass. If you have any suggestions, please write them on the index cards that will be on the piano.

SOME ADDITIONAL PHOTOS from Polish Heritage Month were posted this past week on the parish and Polish Village Hall Facebook pages, including of the events hosted by the Pogoria Polish Folk Ensemble, this year’s featured artist (marking its 20th anniversary). Please submit any photos from Polish Heritage Month to Vicky Aucoin, who so diligently maintains our parish scrapbooks!

RAFFLE FOR POLISH DOLL (with thanks to Toni LaRusic): Tickets are $2 each or three for $5. Toni will have tickets after Mass. Toni has kindly donated the doll, and the proceeds will support the work and hall revitalization project of the St. Michael’s Polish Benefit Society.

BOTTLES AND CANS COLLECTION FOR UKRAINIAN HUMANITARIAN RELIEF EFFORTS: In support of our Ukrainian humanitarian relief efforts, Marjorie Ardelli and Paul MacKinnon are very kindly continuing to collect recyclable bottles. They would welcome any redeemable bottles. Thanks to fellow parishioners for recent contributions of bottles and cans. Our parish has been supporting sister city Walbrzych’s Ukrainian relief efforts, plus the Catholic Near East Welfare Association and the Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace.

FOOD CUPBOARD: Many thanks for bringing any non-perishable contributions to Mass.

OUR POLISH-THEMED RADIO SEGMENTS: The Coast Radio 89.7 (weekdays at 3:50pm and 7:50pm or any time at coastalradio.ca). This coming week's segment will be about Polish autumn traditions. Many thanks to Patricia Ryba for lending her voice and to Dr. Paula Michalik, this week’s sponsor.
We’re always looking for sponsors and volunteers. It’s $100 for a whole week. Sponsors are recognized on air – and any dedications, too (eg. if you’re sponsoring as a memorial or as a birthday or anniversary gift). The Coast is generously redirecting the sponsorships back to the St. Michael’s Polish Benefit Society (which produces the segments), which has been a big help to the Society. If you think you might like to sponsor a week, please e-mail tom_urbaniak@cbu.ca or call 563-1226. Many thanks!

COLLECTION FOR OCTOBER 8: will be reported with this week’s collection in next week’s bulletin. Sincere thanks! Bόg zapłać!
