OGŁOSZENIA / ANNOUNCEMENTS

STO LAT! Best wishes to Lynette Ryba on her birthday. God bless!

WYPOMINKI: Please submit names of deceased loved ones to Father Rich for special upcoming prayers

DRAFT BANNERS about our Polish community (which will be part of a larger mobile exhibit that will be based/stored at the Polish Village Hall) – prepared by the Beaton Institute -- are up for your input and feedback. You can look at these in the Sala 1050 after Mass. If you have any suggestions, please write them on the index cards that will be on the piano.

CONGRATULATIONS to Marilyn Gillis who won the basket of books by Polish Nova Scotian authors (free raffle)

RAFFLE FOR POLISH DOLL (with thanks to Toni LaRusic): Tickets are $2 each or three for $5. Toni will have tickets after Mass. Toni has kindly donated the doll, and the proceeds will support the work and hall revitalization project of the St. Michael’s Polish Benefit Society.

BOTTLES AND CANS COLLECTION FOR UKRAINIAN HUMANITARIAN RELIEF EFFORTS: In support of our Ukrainian humanitarian relief efforts, Marjorie Ardelli and Paul MacKinnon are very kindly continuing to collect recyclable bottles. They would welcome any redeemable bottles. Thanks to fellow parishioners for recent contributions of bottles and cans. Our parish has been supporting sister city Walbrzych’s Ukrainian relief efforts, plus the Catholic Near East Welfare Association and the Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace.

FOOD CUPBOARD: Many thanks for bringing any non-perishable contributions to Mass. The St. Michael’s Polish Benefit Society has recently done repairs to the Food Cupboard.

OUR POLISH-THEMED RADIO SEGMENTS: The Coast Radio 89.7 (weekdays at 3:50pm and 7:50pm or any time at coastalradio.ca). This coming week's segment will be about Teacher’s Day (October 14). Many thanks to Suzanne Durkacz MacNeil for lending her voice and to Dr. Paula Michalik for sponsoring the Society!
We’re always looking for sponsors and volunteers. It’s $100 for a whole week. Sponsors are recognized on air – and any dedications, too (eg. if you’re sponsoring as a memorial or as a birthday or anniversary gift). The Coast is generously redirecting the sponsorships back to the St. Michael’s Polish Benefit Society (which produces the segments), which has been a big help to the Society. If you think you might like to sponsor a week, please e-mail tom_urbaniak@cbu.ca or call 563-1226. Many thanks!

FATHER RICH’S COLUMN: Niech Będzie Pochwalony Jezus Chrystus! Praise be Jesus Christ! This Monday we will celebrate across Canada a national holiday as we in gratitude give thanks to God for all gifts we have received collectively as a nation, a people, a community and as a parish. We also reflect how as individuals we have been blessed. I encourage if time permits to come to the Eucharist (Holy Mass), which comes from a Greek word and means Thanksgiving. As I wrote in a letter sent out to our email list, our All Souls Masses with the reading of the "Wypominki" will take place next Sunday and again on Wednesday, November 15th. The third Mass I will offer in Las Vegas. Please return envelopes marked Wypominki with a list of printed names of deceased family, relatives and friends whom you wish to remember in prayer. There will be two more PREP classes for our First Communicants on the next two Sundays October 15 and 22nd, FIrst Reconciliation (Confession) for the children will be on Saturday, October 28th at a time to be determined. I wish all those who will be away for Thanksgiving Day with family, a most blessed and enjoyable day with loved ones. Have a blessed week! -Fr. Rich

This week, Pope Francis issued “Laudate Deum” – an apostolic exhortation to all people of goodwill on the climate crisis. It is a very powerful document and can be read here:www.vatican.va/content/francesco/en/a post_exhortations/documents/20231004- laudate-deum.html
