OGŁOSZENIA / ANNOUNCEMENTS

WE MADE IT THROUGH POLISH HERITAGE MONTH! Thanks, everyone! There was so much goodwill and we reached new people and new audiences. The parish anniversary celebrations were very positive as well. Thanks for the blessing of our parish community! Check out the parish Facebook page for recent photos. Thanks for everyone who helped in any way including, most recently, all the food prep! Thanks to groups and venues that partnered with us.

RAFFLE FOR POLISH DOLL (with thanks to Toni LaRusic): Tickets are $2 each or three for $5. Toni will have tickets after Mass.

LAST CHANCE, FREE RAFFLE FOR BASKET OF BOOKS BY POLISH NOVA SCOTIAN AUTHORS: Please fill out a ticket at the table at the back of the church. The draw will be after Mass.

PANEL DISPLAY: Photo essay by students who took part in the CBU summer field school in Walbrzych. The panels will be up today in the Sala after Mass if you would like to have a look! The students spoke at our Polish Café at the Polish Village Hall on Wednesday

A SPECIAL REQUEST TO FELLOW PARISHIONERS RE PARTICIPATING IN A GATHERING WITH PEACEMAKERS FROM SOUTH SUDAN AND THE DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO: Our parish is part of the regional KAIROS network of churches, which is hosting special guests this week who would very much like to connect with us. One of the guests will be staying for a couple of nights in our glebe house (with thanks to Father Rich). They are part of a movement of churches that work on peace, justice and solidarity with the poor. The delegation is headed by Proscovia Mungasa James (South Sudan) and Gérard Kwigwasa Nakahuga (DRC). We’ll be gathering with our esteemed guests in St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church this coming Thursday at 7:00pm. If you can attend, please let Tom Urbaniak know

BOTTLES AND CANS COLLECTION FOR UKRAINIAN HUMANITARIAN RELIEF EFFORTS: In support of our Ukrainian humanitarian relief efforts, Marjorie Ardelli and Paul MacKinnon are very kindly continuing to collect recyclable bottles. They would welcome any redeemable bottles. Thanks to fellow parishioners for recent contributions of bottles and cans. Our parish has been supporting sister city Walbrzych’s Ukrainian relief efforts, plus the Catholic Near East Welfare Association and the Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace.

FOOD CUPBOARD: Many thanks for bringing any non-perishable contributions to Mass. The St. Michael’s Polish Benefit Society has recently done repairs to the Food Cupboard.

OUR POLISH-THEMED RADIO SEGMENTS: The Coast Radio 89.7 (weekdays at 3:50pm and 7:50pm or any time at coastalradio.ca). This coming week's segment will be about ways of saying thank you in Polish. Thank you to Bob Lewandowski for lending his voice. This week’s segment is dedicated to all the volunteers who worked so hard on Nova Scotia Polish Heritage Month. Thank you and God bless you.
We’re always looking for sponsors and volunteers. It’s $100 for a whole week. Sponsors are recognized on air – and any dedications, too (eg. if you’re sponsoring as a memorial or as a birthday or anniversary gift). The Coast is generously redirecting the sponsorships back to the St. Michael’s Polish Benefit Society (which produces the segments), which has been a big help to the Society. If you think you might like to sponsor a week, please e-mail tom_urbaniak@cbu.ca or call 563-1226. Many thanks!

COLLECTION FOR SEPTEMBER 17 & 24: $1,977.00 including $125.00 for the Building Fund. Sincere thanks! Bόg zapłać!

FATHER RICH’S COLUMN: Niech Będzie Pochwalony Jezus Chrystus! We enter the beautiful autumn month of October. This is traditionally the month of the Holy Rosary as the feast day falls on October 7th. During this month, we will offer two decades of the rosary every Sunday at the end of Mass (one in English and one in Polish) and conclude with a Marian hymn. Today is Respect Life Sunday. I invite parishioners to join me in a peaceful demonstration at the Mayflower Mall from 2:00pm to 3:00pm in front of the main entrance. I want to thank all those dedicated parishioners who donated their time and labour to make our Polish dinner take out a great success. To all those who made the pierogies, cabbage rolls( gołąbki) and prepared the take out containers and delivered the meals that were picked up, my most sincere THANKS- "BÓG ZAPŁAĆ! Since I will not be here for All Souls Day this year, I would like to offer a memorial "Wypominki" All Souls Mass of Remembrance on Sunday, October 15th for all the souls deceased . Envelopes will be available to write (print) the names of loved ones you wish to remember at that Mass and a second Mass on Wednesday, November 15th that Father Evo will offer. On Sunday, October 15th (weather permitting) I will schedule in the afternoon times for a brief prayer service and grave blessings at the five cemeteries where our deceased parishioners are buried. Last class sessions for our children preparing for their First Holy Communion will be on October 8th and 22nd following Sunday Mass at the Glebe. I will discuss with parents and guardians the best day and time for their First Penance (Confession). Have a blessed week ! -Fr. Rich
