OGŁOSZENIA / ANNOUNCEMENTS

Szczęśliwego dnia Matki / Happy Mother’s Day!
Sending many blessings and expressions of gratitude!

CONDOLENCES: Sending prayers and expressions of friendship and support to Jeanette McCarron’s family. Jeanette’s funeral was on Friday. May she rest in peace. Wieczny odpoczynek racz jej dać Panie …

ANNIVERSARY BLESSINGS to Bernie and Jancia LaRusic! May God bless you both with many more happy years. Bόg zapłać for all you do for the parish.

STO LAT to Larry Gniewek on his birthday! Larry, wishing you health, happiness and many blessings!

HOUSING CHALLENGES IN OUR COMMUNITY – KAIROS ECUMENICAL PROJECT: (Our parish has been serving as host for meetings/gatherings.) We have been working together with other local churches to offer some help – and most recently on a pilot project – a volunteer network with a straightforward, time-limited role: being available for an initial consultation with newcomers and to accompany, if they wish, to an initial meeting with a landlord. Our next gathering is a café-discussion on Tuesday at 1:00pm in our church. You are most welcome.

NEW CANDLE CARDS: We have new candle cards beside the votive candles. Please feel free to take one after lighting a candle. It can be given to someone (eg, if you lit a candle in someone’s memory, or for someone’s intention – such as health or continued blessings, please give them or their family members a card.)

ALTAR SOCIETY: Thank you to Ursula Melski and Eileen Fagan-Steele for their service in April. And thank you to Peggy and Lynette Ryba for their service in May.

THANK YOU: A note of thanks to Jerry Pocius for copying the bulletin this week!

FUND-RAISING FOR UKRAINIAN HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE: We are using all the funds raised to support three charities that are directly helping refugees and displaced people either within Ukraine itself or who have fled to Poland. Our largest chunk of support has been going to our sister city Wałbrzych’s Ukrainian refugee assistance fund (via the CBRM). We are also supporting Caritas efforts on the ground (via the Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace) and the Catholic Near East Welfare Association. We have special envelopes (marked “Ukrainian Humanitarian Assistance”) at the back of the church if you are considering making a contribution. Thank you for your support in the midst of all the suffering caused by this terrible invasion.

VEHICLE PLATES: Cape Breton Polonia and Nova Scotia Polonia front vehicle plates are still available at the back of the church. $25.00 each

FOOD CUPBOARD: Please consider bringing a non-perishable food or personal care item (e.g. shampoo, soap, toilet paper) to church when you come to Mass. There is a collection box at the entrance to the church. We try to fill the Food Cupboard after each Sunday Mass. Thank you so much!

OUR POLISH-THEMED RADIO SEGMENTS: The Coast Radio 89.7 (weekdays at 3:50pm and 7:50pm or any time at coastalradio.ca). This coming week's topic will be the Polish custom of not shaking hands across a threshold. Thank you to Judi Starzomski-McCarron for lending her voice to this segment. Thank you to Wandzi Pierrynowski, in memory of Aggie Wrόblewski Stephenson, this week’s sponsor.
We’re always looking for sponsors and volunteers. It’s $100 for a whole week. Sponsors are recognized on air – and any dedications, too (eg. if you’re sponsoring as a memorial or as a birthday or anniversary gift). The Coast is generously redirecting the sponsorships back to the St. Michael’s Polish Benefit Society (which produces the segments), which has been a big help to the Society. If you think you might like to sponsor a week, please e-mail tom_urbaniak@cbu.ca or call 563-1226. Many thanks!

COLLECTION FOR MAY 7: $1212.00 including $125.00 for the Building Fund. Thank you for your generosity to carry on the work of our parish and maintain our beautiful sacred space. Bόg zapłać!

RECENT IMO ( IN MEMORY OF) CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE BUILDING FUND:

PRAYER: The prayer below in Polish is being prayed this weekend at the Atlantic School of Theology Convocation in Halifax (which offers degree and certificate programs for Catholics and Protestants, studying together) . The prayer is in the format of intercessions, but without responses (instead, it’s followed at the very end of the prayer by a minute of silent meditation). The prayer asks for discernment, perseverance, and solidarity in troubled times – for empathy despite our busy-ness, for wisdom and patience to find holiness in each other and in Creation, and for the humility to acknowledge that the Holy Spirit is still revealing new things to us.
Boże Stwórco nasz, to są trudne czasy. Nasz świat cierpi.
Pomóż nam -- absolwenci -- szukać pokoju i być budowniczymi pokoju
Pomóż nam znaleźć ciszę, pomimo niepokojów naszych czasów. Pomóż nam poczuć Twoje światło.
Pomóż nam rozeznać, dokąd nas prowadzisz. Obyśmy szli tam, gdzie nas prowadzisz z mądrością i cierpliwością i radością.
Pomóż nam widzieć w każdym coś świętego I dostrzec świętość w całym Stworzeniu.
