POLISH-THEMED COLOURING CONTEST PARTY: In collaboration with Glace Bay Library, this coming Saturday, November 26, 2:00pm to 4:00pm., Warden United Church, 44 Fifth St., Glace Bay. This is one of the postponed events (because of Hurricane Fiona) from the last week of Polish Heritage Month. Prizes, snacks, refreshments. We will be using Jeff Wilson’s beautiful sketches from The Polish Cape Bretoners Colouring Book. Everyone is welcome! This event is multi-generational. Please share the word, including to friends and family in the Glace Bay area.

HUGE THANKS to Rod and Peter Farrell, who made a presentation to us at the parish lunch last week of $3,000 toward our efforts for Ukrainian humanitarian assistance. Here is a note we posted on our parish Facebook page this week about that: Sincere thanks to the St. Barra's Community in Christmas Island for a generous donation of $3,000 toward our parish's efforts for Ukrainian humanitarian assistance. This puts our parish's total over the $30,000 mark. We are supporting our sister city Walbrzych, Poland (via CBRM), which has a special fund to care for the thousands of Ukrainian refugees who have found safety and support in our sister city. Our funds are also supporting efforts on the ground of Caritas (via the Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace) and the Catholic Near East Welfare Association. We remain shocked and horrified by the humanitarian disaster sparked by the invasion of Ukraine. You can support our parish's efforts on our CanadaHelps page: https://www.canadahelps.org/en/givingbasket/

PARISH LUNCH LAST WEEK: Thanks to everyone who helped with the parish lunch last week! The recitation of Powrόt Taty was amazing! Thanks, everyone! And thanks to Pogoria Polish Folk Ensemble for helping to lead it.

HAND-MADE DISH CLOTHS – FUNDRAISER FOR UKRAINIAN HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE: at the back of the church. These beautiful unique dishcloths have been handmade by Dee-Dee (Yurczyszyn) Jackson and her sister Brenda Yurczyszyn and were donated to us (via Marjorie Ardelli) for the Ukrainian humanitarian fund. Available small size 2 for $5, large size $3 each.

VEHICLE PLATES: Cape Breton Polonia and Nova Scotia Polonia front vehicle plates are still available at the back of the church. $25.00 each

UKRAINIAN HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE: Thank you for your continued support in the midst of this terrible human suffering. Special envelopes are at the back of the church. Or you can contribute via our CanadaHelps page. We are supporting our sister city Wałbrzych’s refugee assistance fund (via direct transfer from the CBRM), the Catholic Near East Welfare Association, and the Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace.

REPAIRS: Repairs to the Polish Village Hall from Hurricane Fiona have now been completed. The last component to be fixed was the missing siding on the back.

FOOD CUPBOARD: Please consider bringing a non-perishable food or personal care item (e.g. shampoo, soap, toilet paper) to church when you come to Mass. These items will help stock our food cupboard outside the Polish Village Hall. There is a significant need in our community. Thank you for any help.

OUR POLISH-THEMED RADIO SEGMENTS: The Coast Radio 89.7 (weekdays at 3:50pm and 7:50pm or any time at coastalradio.ca). This coming week's topic will be this coming Saturday’s Polish-themed Colouring Contest Party in collaboration with the Glace Bay Library. Many thanks to April Jessome of the Glace Bay Library for lending her voice this week and to the CBU Tompkins Institute for sponsoring this segment.
We’re always looking for sponsors and volunteers. It’s $100 for a whole week. Sponsors are recognized on air – and any dedications, too (eg. if you’re sponsoring as a memorial or as a birthday or anniversary gift). The Coast is generously redirecting the sponsorships back to the St. Michael’s Polish Benefit Society (which produces the segments), which has been a big help to the Society. If you think you might like to sponsor a week, please e-mail tom_urbaniak@cbu.ca or call 563-1226. Many thanks!

PUBLIC HEALTH PROTOCOLS – MASKS ARE STILL STRONGLY RECOMMENDED. Thanks for all your kindness, patience, and co-operation through the pandemic.

COLLECTION FOR NOVEMBER 13: $840.00 including $25.00 for the Building Fund, $125.00 for flowers. Many thanks, everyone, for your kindness and generosity!

RECENT IMO (IN MEMORY OF) CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE BUILDING FUND:
IMO Donnie MacPhee from Frank Starzomski

THANKS VERY KINDLY FOR YOUR DONATIONS TO OUR PARISH : We are truly grateful for everyone’s generosity through the pandemic. If you are attending Mass, you will find a collection basket near the entrance and exit (since we are not passing around the basket due to the public health restrictions). Also, please free to use the mail: St. Mary’s Polish Parish, 21 Wesley St., Sydney, NS, B1N 2M5. Donations can also be made securely on-line at Canada Helps (which will email you an instant tax receipt):   https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/st-marys-polish-parish/. (link to this site is provided on our parish website homepage). Thanks for your support!
