OGŁOSZENIA / ANNOUNCEMENTS

STO LAT! Birthdays this past week Sept. 15: Many blessings to Steve Sokołowski on his birthday! Sept 17: Birthday blessings to Wayne Joseph!

THANK YOU: Huge thanks for the very successful events last Sunday (109th anniversary Mass, blessing of the site of the future Twin City Pocket Park, Polish Café and singing, unveiling of our Polonia decorative vehicle plates, special cake for Ursula Melski’s 50th anniversary in Canada). And Thursday’s Johnny Paruch Memories Evening (hosted by the Pogoria Polish Folk Ensemble and the St. Michael’s Polish Benefit Society at the Polish Village Hall) was wonderful! We have videoed it, including the singing by Pogoria, the beautifully presented Polish food trays (thanks, Shari), Jerry’s presentation, Joey’s commentaries, and more. Thanks for the hard work! Please check out the Facebook pages of St. Mary’s Polish Church and the Polish Village Hall for photos!

DZIĘKUJEMY! A big thank you to our wonderful team for pierogi-making this past week.

PLEASE NOTE: Goląbki-making will happen this Friday at 9:00am (not Thursday). Many thanks!

FULL SCHEDULE FOR CAPE BRETON ACTIVITIES DURING NOVA SCOTIA POLISH HERITAGE MONTH can be found at www.PolishMonthNS.ca There is a wonderful range of activities – something happening most days. Sincere thanks to everyone who has helped to generate this positive energy and outreach. Theme this year is Gościnność / Hospitality.

TAKE-OUT DINNER TICKETS: (September 24, 11:00am-1:00pm at the church, $15.00) can be purchased after Mass from Stephanie Black or through the week by contacting Tom Urbaniak (902-563-1226 or e-mail (tom_urbaniak@cbu.ca.). Please note that quantities are limited and there will be no tickets at the door.

PUBLIC INFORMATION SESSION FOR SUMMER SCHOOL EXPERIENCE IN OUR TWIN CITY, WAŁBRZYCH: This has been moved to Monday, September 26, at 10:15am in the Beaton Institute, CBU.

EVENT SCHEDULE CHANGE: Another change to the Polish Heritage Month schedule is that the McConnell Library event on the afternoon of September 26 is now moved to the Polish Village Hall. This will allow students at Whitney Pier Memorial Middle School to exhibit their wonderful work on Polish paper art-wycinanki. We will share recipes, quickly profile the recommended books for Polish Heritage Month, and thank the Starzomski family for the adopt-a-book contribution that is allowing the Cape Breton Regional Library to make Polish literature in English available to the general community!

UKRAINIAN HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE: Thank you for your continued support in the midst of this terrible human suffering. Our parish’s contributions now total more than $28,000. Special envelopes are at the back of the church. Or you can contribute via our CanadaHelps page. In previous weeks’ bulletins, we had a more detailed description of how our support is helping displaced people directly on the ground with basic aid

FOOD CUPBOARD: Please consider bringing a non-perishable food or personal care item (e.g. shampoo, soap, toilet paper) to church when you come to Mass. These items will help stock our food cupboard outside the Polish Village Hall. There is a significant need in our community. Thank you for any help.

OUR POLISH-THEMED RADIO SEGMENTS: The Coast Radio 89.7 (weekdays at 3:50pm and 7:50pm or any time at coastalradio.ca). This coming week's topic will be Imieniny – name days – a beautiful Polish tradition (historically, in place of birthdays). Many thanks to Ed Michalik for lending his voice to this segment. Please note that the Glace Bay Library is working with us to distribute free imieniny cards during Polish Heritage Month! Please drop by the Glace Bay Library to get one.
We’re always looking for sponsors and volunteers. It’s $100 for a whole week. Sponsors are recognized on air – and any dedications, too (eg. if you’re sponsoring as a memorial or as a birthday or anniversary gift). The Coast is generously redirecting the sponsorships back to the St. Michael’s Polish Benefit Society (which produces the segments), which has been a big help to the Society. If you think you might like to sponsor a week, please e-mail tom_urbaniak@cbu.ca or call 563-1226. Many thanks!

PUBLIC HEALTH PROTOCOLS – MASKS ARE STILL STRONGLY RECOMMENDED. Thanks for all your kindness, patience, and co-operation through the pandemic.

COLLECTION FOR SEPTEMBER 11: Info will be included with next week’s bulletin. Many thanks, everyone, for your kindness and generosity!

THANKS VERY KINDLY FOR YOUR DONATIONS TO OUR PARISH : We are truly grateful for everyone’s generosity through the pandemic. If you are attending Mass, you will find a collection basket near the entrance and exit (since we are not passing around the basket due to the public health restrictions). Also, please free to use the mail: St. Mary’s Polish Parish, 21 Wesley St., Sydney, NS, B1N 2M5. Donations can also be made securely on-line at Canada Helps (which will email you an instant tax receipt):   https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/st-marys-polish-parish/. (link to this site is provided on our parish website homepage). Thanks for your support!

REQUEST FOR PHOTOS / THEME: GRANDPARENTS (DZIADKOWIE): Please help the CBU Beaton Institute put together a large, professionally designed collage during NS Polish Heritage Month! An Invitation to Cape Breton's Polish community -- in other words, anyone with Polish roots or who identifies with the Polish community (eg. through marriage or friendship). Jane Arnold from the Beaton Institute is with us today and will accept photos in the Sala 1050 right after Mass! They can be scanned and returned today. Jane would also be pleased to borrow some photos today!
-Please share with the Beaton Institute a few images of any or all of your grandparents, living or deceased. The photos can be old or very recent
-These images will be made into a large collage, which will be ready at the end of, or shortly after, Nova Scotia Polish Heritage Month (September)
-Your grandparents do not have to be Polish (The diversity of the Polish community is part of the story!)
-Photos can show your grandparents at any age (including when they were children)
-Action shots are welcome, not just portraits. There can be other people in the images, too.
-The place of the photos does not have to be Cape Breton (eg. it could be the "old country" or a vacation shot).
-Please handwrite (or type), if possible, a one- or two-line description of what we see in each photo you submit. (If you’re not sure of something, please put a “?”) Please write your name at the bottom of the description.

POLISH HERITAGE COLOURING EVENT AT THE GLACE BAY LIBRARY “Colouring in Good Company”: This coming Saturday, September 24, 1:30pm to 4:00pm. In celebration of NS Polish Heritage Month copies of the Polish Cape Bretoners Colouring Book (illustrations by Jeff Wilson) will be available for participants (while supplies last). Bring a friend and share some good conversation while you colour. We will provide the art supplies, refreshments and prizes for participation! POLONIA DECORATIVE FRONT VEHICLE PLATES: A project of the St. Michael’s Polish Benefit Society for NS Polish Heritage Month. We still have plates that say “Nova Scotia Polonia” (we’ll have these in the Sala 1050 after Mass). We have run out of the “Cape Breton Polonia” plates, but will order more! $25. Profits during Polish Heritage Month to Ukrainian humanitarian assistance.

A couple of scenes from Thursday’s Johnny Paruch Memories Evening!

A NOTE FROM FATHER RICH: Niech bedzie pochwalony Jezus Chrystus! Praise be Jesus Christ! I returned Friday night from the annual retreat . It was the first time that some of our Society of Christ priests from Canada could get together with those working in the United States. I will meet with Father Evo this Tuesday for supper and talk about the weekday Mass schedule and other matters. I hope soon to meet with the Parish Rada and Bishop Wayne. This Monday I will celebrate a Mass of Thanksgiving observing my anniversary of ordination that was last week. At the end of Mass will also be a short prayer service for +Queen Elizabeth on this holiday in her honour on the day of her funeral. After the Monday Mass in the Sala 1050 we will have coffee, tea and Polish poppyseed cake that I brought back. I will have a little display of the churches that I have served at. This Friday will also be Holy Mass at 6:30pm.

2.A człowiek, który bez miary,/Obsypany Twymi dary,/Coś go stworzył i ocalił, A czemuż by Cię nie chwalił

Offertory: Serce Twe Jezu miłością goreje (Your Heart, Jesus, Exudes Love)
1.Serce Twe, Jezu, miłością goreje,/ Serce Twe w ogniu miłości topnieje, / A nasze serca zimne jak lód,/ I próżny dla nich Twej męki trud.
2.Kiedyż, o kiedyż słodki mój Panie,/ Poznamy Twego Serca kochanie,/ Kiedyż Twa miłość rozpali nas?/ O dobry Jezu, czas to już czas.

Communion: O Mój Jezu w Hostii Skryty - choir

Post-Communion: Na Wszystkich Drogach Zycia
Na wszystkich drogach życia,/ Gdzie posłałeś mnie,/ O Tobie, Boże, myślę, Wszędzie szukam Cię.
O Boże mój, dziękuję Ci/ Za bezmiar Twoich łask,/ Za radość Twą, za miłość Twą, Za każdą chwilę dnia.
Zapalasz światło wiary/ W zwykły, szary czas,/ By każda chwila życia/ Jednoczyła nas.

Recessional: My Chcemy Boga (We Want God)
My chcemy Boga, Panno Święta./ O usłysz naszych wołań głos./ Miłości Bożej dźwigać pęta
To nasza chluba, to nasz los.

On naszym Królem, On nasz Pan!

Życzymy błogosławionego tygodnia / Wishing you a blessed week!
