OGŁOSZENIA / ANNOUNCEMENTS

PLEASE NOTE: The Funeral Mass for the late Anne (Tynski) Redmond will be held at our church on Saturday, July 9, at 11:00am

GRATULACJE! Congratulations to Matthew Pellerine, who is graduating from Riverview High School! Wishing Matthew many blessings and lots of success! Thanks, Matthew, for your service to our parish.

ANNIVERSARY: Next Sunday marks the sixth anniversary of the consecration of our sacred church building, which makes it a special feast day for our parish. We will have a special candle in front of Our Lady of Częstochowa to represent all our individual prayer intentions for loved ones and for the world – and a period of silence during the intercessions. Please take a moment during the week to reflect on silent prayer intentions.

WE NEED YOUR ADVICE! The public libraries of Nova Scotia are going to recommend 10 books in English by Polish authors, Polish Nova Scotian authors, or about Polish subjects in advance of Polish Heritage Month. (Next year, they’ll recommend a different 10.) Which book(s) would you like to see on the list? If you have a suggestion, please e-mail tom_urbaniak@cbu.ca or call 902-563-1226

GETTING READY FOR NOVA SCOTIA POLISH HERITAGE MONTH: Planning is well underway for September – with again a range of activities, large and small. If you would like to do something in your home, school, workplace, or community organization to honour the month, please let us know. We will recognize it in the official calendar!

ST. MICHAEL’S POLISH BENEFIT SOCIETY – ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING: This evening, June 26, at 7:00pm by Zoom – with presentation about upcoming hall improvements and new cultural content for hall. For Society membership info, please speak with Jerry Pocius (gpocius@mun.ca). For any Society members who have not received the Zoom link for the meeting, please speak with Tom Urbaniak.

OUR POLISH-THEMED RADIO SEGMENTS: The Coast Radio 89.7 (weekdays at 3:50pm and 7:50pm or any time at coastalradio.ca). This coming week will feature Polish kompot beverages with guest Wandzi Pierrynowski. This segment is dedicated in memory of Anne Tynski Redmond.
We’re always looking for sponsors and volunteers. It’s $100 for a whole week. Sponsors are recognized on air – and any dedications, too (eg. if you’re sponsoring as a memorial or as a birthday or anniversary gift). The Coast is generously redirecting the sponsorships back to the St. Michael’s Polish Benefit Society (which produces the segments), which has been a big help to the Society. If you think you might like to sponsor a week, please e-mail tom_urbaniak@cbu.ca or call 563-1226. Many thanks!

UKRAINIAN HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE: We are continuing to fund-raise in order to support our twin city Wałbrzych to care for the thousands of refugees in their city; as well as humanitarian efforts on the ground by Caritas (via the Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace) and the Catholic Near East Welfare Association. There are envelopes at the back of the church marked “Ukrainian Humanitarian Assistance.” You can also make a cheque to St. Mary’s Polish Parish and mark “Ukrainian Humanitarian Assistance” in the memo line. Or make a designated, secure donation on the parish’s CanadaHelps page: www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/st-marys-polish-parish/ God bless! Thank you so much for your caring and support! Donations will be included in your tax receipt at the end of the year.

FOOD CUPBOARD: Please consider bringing a non-perishable food or personal care item (e.g. shampoo, soap, toilet paper) to church when you come to Mass. These items will help stock our food cupboard outside the Polish Village Hall. There is a significant need in our community. Thank you for any help.

PUBLIC HEALTH PROTOCOLS – MASKS STILL STRONGLY RECOMMENDED. Thanks for all your kindness, patience, and co-operation.

COLLECTION FOR June 19: $1405.05, including $520 for the Building Fund and $35.05 for candles. Many thanks, everyone, for your kindness and generosity!

RECENT IMO (IN MEMORY OF) CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE BUILDING FUND:
General memorial from Juliette MacLeod
IMO Dennis Price from Sophie and Roddie O’Toole; Ernie and Doreen O’Toole

THANKS VERY KINDLY FOR YOUR DONATIONS TO OUR PARISH : We are truly grateful for everyone’s generosity through the pandemic. If you are attending Mass, you will find a collection basket near the entrance and exit (since we are not passing around the basket due to the public health restrictions). Also, please free to use the mail: St. Mary’s Polish Parish, 21 Wesley St., Sydney, NS, B1N 2M5. Donations can also be made securely on-line at Canada Helps (which will email you an instant tax receipt):   https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/st-marys-polish-parish/. (link to this site is provided on our parish website homepage). Thanks for your support!

Although our Corpus Christi procession couldn’t take place outside last Sunday due to the weather, a big thank you to those who kindly agreed to play special roles in the procession and to our choir
