OGŁOSZENIA / ANNOUNCEMENTS

PRAYERS AND CONDOLENCES of our parish go to Peter and Judi McCarron and their family on the recent passing of Peter’s aunt, Sister Evelyn McNeil. Sister Evelyn was a CND with more than 50 years of service. Wieczny odpoczynek racz jej dać, Panie.

STO LAT! Wishing Bernie LaRusic many blessings on his birthday! Thank you, Bernie, for all you do for our community

POLISH CAFÉ AFTER MASS TODAY: Please join us as at the Polish Village Hall right after Mass as we mark some of the Polish May holidays. There is no charge. Everyone is welcome! See you soon.

PIEROGI-MAKING: Starting Monday, May 30, at 9:00am (a day earlier than noted in last week’s bulletin), starting with potato-peeling! Everyone who can spare some time that week is welcome -- with gratitude for your time and help! -- including new volunteers. The proceeds of this fund-raiser will support the St. Michael’s Polish Benefit Society – major hall improvement project that we’ll talk about at the Polish Café this morning!

PIEROGI ORDERS: $12 a dozen. Please call Stephanie Black (902-578-3697). We will also have a clipboard at the back of the church if you would like to write down an order after Mass. Orders will be taken up to and including May 29, while supplies last.

UKRAINIAN HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE: A big thank you for the parish’s generosity for Ukrainian humanitarian assistance and to friends of the parish. So far, we have contributed $20,000 to Wałbrzych’s Ukrainian refugee assistance fund (via CBRM); $3,600 to Caritas partners (via the Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace); and $3,600 to the Catholic Near East Welfare Association. There are envelopes at the back of the church marked “Ukrainian Humanitarian Assistance.” You can also make a cheque to St. Mary’s Polish Parish and mark “Ukrainian Humanitarian Assistance” in the memo line. Or make a designated, secure donation on the parish’s CanadaHelps page: www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/st-marys-polish-parish/ God bless! Thank you so much for your caring and support! Donations will be included in your tax receipt at the end of the year.

FOOD CUPBOARD: Please consider bringing a non-perishable food or personal care item (e.g. shampoo, soap, toilet paper) to church when you come to Mass. These items will help stock our food cupboard outside the Polish Village Hall.

PUBLIC HEALTH PROTOCOLS – MASKS STILL STRONGLY RECOMMENDED: Thanks for all your kindness, patience, and co-operation.

SCHOLARSHIP FUND: At its meeting this past week, the Finance Committee decided to convene a working group that will meet once or twice to recommend to the Finance Committee and Rada the structure/criteria for the scholarship fund made possible by Father Rich’s recent donation. If you would like to be part of this very positive discussion, please call 902-563-1226 or e-mail tom_urbaniak@cbu.ca

WEEKDAY RADIO SPOTS ABOUT POLISH CULTURE AND LANGUAGE IN CAPE BRETON: “One Minute Polish Broadcast” airs on the Coast Radio every weekday at 3:50pm and 7:50pm (FM 89.7), and is archived at coastalradio.ca. Learn a new Polish word, phrase, or cultural tradition. Presented by the St. Michael’s Polish Benefit Society. Would you consider sponsoring a whole week of our radio segments for $100? The Coast has kindly agreed to allow the St. Michael’s Polish Benefit Society to do this as a fund-raiser (they are not charging for air time). Sponsors will be acknowledged on air (IMOs are welcome, birthday tributes, etc). Dziekujemy! This coming week's radio segment features a Nova Scotia law that was written in the Polish language. Thank you to Bernie LaRusic for lending his voice and to Wanda Pierrynowski, this week’s sponsor of the Society in memory of Aggie Wróblewski Stephenson!
