OGŁOSZENIA / ANNOUNCEMENTS

Prayers for Joe Gillis on his birthday. Sto lat, Joe! Wszystkiego dobrego!

TRZECIEGO MAJA - MAY 3rd – FEAST DAY OF MARY QUEEN OF POLAND AND POLISH CONSTITUTION DAY: Hymn selections today honour this special occasion. It’s a time to reflect on freedom, solidarity, human rights for all and the deep spiritual traditions of the Polish people. Prayer and the intercession of Mary, Queen of Poland, have kept hope and resilience alive during some of the most cruel and difficult times over the centuries – including times of brutal war, occupation, and oppression. At the back of the church, there are beautiful Polish folk napkins. They are $5 per package. This is a small fund-raiser for the St. Michael’s Polish Benefit Society to support upcoming renovations and cultural exhibit development at the Polish Village Hall.

UKRAINIAN HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE: A big thank you for the parish’s prayers and generosity for Ukrainian humanitarian assistance during these cruel times. We have been getting donations out the door quickly. So far, our parish has contributed $18,500 to our sister city Wałbrzych’s Ukrainian refugee assistance fund (via CBRM), plus $2,850 to Caritas partners in Ukraine and Poland (via the Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace); and $2,850 to the Catholic Near East Welfare Association. A recent donation of note: Dominion Drywallers (drywall contractors who worked on our church) contributed $7,500 to us, earmarked to help the 4,000 refugees in Wałbrzych. There are envelopes at the back of the church marked “Ukrainian Humanitarian Assistance.” You can also make a cheque to St. Mary’s Polish Parish and mark “Ukrainian Humanitarian Assistance” in the memo line. Or make a designated, secure donation on the parish’s CanadaHelps page: www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/st-marys-polish-parish/ God bless! Thank you so much for your caring and support!

FOOD CUPBOARD: Please consider bringing a non-perishable food or personal care item (e.g. shampoo, soap, toilet paper) to church when you come to Mass. These items will help stock our food cupboard outside the Polish Village Hall.

PUBLIC HEALTH PROTOCOLS – MASKS STILL STRONGLY RECOMMENDED: Thanks for all your kindness, patience, and co-operation.

WEEKDAY RADIO SPOTS ABOUT POLISH CULTURE AND LANGUAGE IN CAPE BRETON: “One Minute Polish Broadcast” airs on the Coast Radio every weekday at 3:50pm and 7:50pm (FM 89.7), and is archived at coastalradio.ca. Learn a new Polish word, phrase, or cultural tradition. Presented by the St. Michael’s Polish Benefit Society. Would you consider sponsoring a whole week of our radio segments for $100? The Coast has kindly agreed to allow the St. Michael’s Polish Benefit Society to do this as a fund-raiser (they are not charging for air time). Sponsors will be acknowledged on air (IMOs are welcome, birthday tributes, etc). Dziekujemy! We’re recruiting volunteers to go on air (pre-recorded). We’ll help you get ready. No previous experience required, and you do not have to be a Polish speaker. This coming week's radio segment features Trzeciego Maja – the Polish May holiday. Thank you to Judi Starzomski-McCarron for lending her voice to this segment! This segment is dedicated to the memory of Mary Pierrynowski, from the Society, in recognition of Mary’s significant contribution to Polish culture and heritage in Cape Breton.

PLEASE NOTE: We are recording our next round of radio segments on May 6. We’re gratefully putting a call out for volunteers and sponsors.

COLLECTION FOR APRIL 17 & 24: $11,011.40, including $8,525.00 to Ukrainian humanitarian relief (including the Dominion Drywall donation mentioned in the announcement above), $120.00 for the Building Fund. Thank you very kindly for your support of our parish. Bόg zapłaƈ!

THANKS VERY KINDLY FOR YOUR DONATIONS TO OUR PARISH : We are truly grateful for everyone’s generosity through the pandemic. If you are attending Mass, you will find a collection basket near the entrance and exit (since we are not passing around the basket due to the public health restrictions). Also, please free to use the mail: St. Mary’s Polish Parish, 21 Wesley St., Sydney, NS, B1N 2M5. Donations can also be made securely on-line at Canada Helps (which will email you an instant tax receipt):   https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/st-marys-polish-parish/. (link to this site is provided on our parish website homepage). Thanks for your support!

NOTICE OF ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF THE PARISH: At this past week’s Rada meeting, the Rada designated after Mass on Sunday, June 12, for our next Annual General Meeting – which will include updates, financial reports, and Rada elections. At this time, we are inviting volunteers to serve on this year’s Nominations Committee (which reaches out for potential Rada nominees and recommends a slate for the parish’s consideration, subject to the pastor’s confirmation)

PIEŚNI / HYMNS:

Entrance: in honour of Mary Queen of Poland (verses 1 and 3)

Offertory: Wesoly nam dzis dzien nastal. (A Glorious Day has Risen – A Hymn for the Easter Season)
Wesoły nam dziś dzień nastał, Którego z nas każdy żądał,
Tego dnia Chrystus zmartwychwstał. Alleluja, Alleluja.

Król niebieski knam zawitał,/ Jako śliczny kwiat zakwitał,
Po śmierci się nam pokazał. Allel. Allel.

Piekielne mocy zwojował/ Nieprzyjaciele podeptał,
Nad nędznemi się zmiłował. Allel. Allel.

Do trzeciego dnia tam mieszkał, / Ojce święte tam pocieszał,
Potem im za sobą kazał. Allel. Allel.

Którzy w otchłaniach mieszkali, / Płaczliwie tam zawołali,
Gdy Zbawiciela ujrzeli. Allel. Allel.

Communion: Bądż Pochwalon Na Wieki – Be Praised for the Ages (Choir)

Post-Communion: Czarna Madonna (A Hymn in Honour of Our Lady of Częstochowa)
I opieką cię otoczy,/ Gdy Jej serce oddasz swe, / Gdy powtórzysz Jej z radością słowa te: REF.

Recessional: Boże Coś Polskę (God Save Poland)
Boże, coś Polskę przez tak liczne wieki / Otaczał blaskiem potęgi i chwały, / Coś ją osłaniał tarczą swej opieki / Od nieszczęść, które przygnębić ją miały, / Przed Twe ołtarze zanosim błaganie:/ Ojczyznę wolną pobłogosław, Panie!

Przed Twe ołtarze zanosim błaganie: / Ojczyznę wolną pobłogosław, Panie!

WE WILL SING THE POLISH OJCZE NASZ (OUR FATHER TODAY), AS FOLLOWS:
Ojcze nasz, któryś jest w niebie – Ojcze Nasz
święć się imię Twoje; przyjdź królestwo Twoje – Ojcze Nasz
bądź wola Twoja, jako w niebie tak i na ziemi – Ojcze Nasz
Chleba naszego powszedniego daj nam dzisiaj – Ojcze Nasz
i odpuść nam nasze winy – Ojcze Nasz
jako i my odpuszczamy naszym winowajcom – Ojcze Nasz
I nie wódź nas na pokuszenie -- Ojcze Nasz
ale nas zbaw ode złego -- Ojcze Nasz
