OGŁOSZENIA / ANNOUNCEMENTS

MATKA BOSKA ZIELNA: The Feast Day of the Assumption of Mary (this Sunday, August 15) is also called Matka Boska Zielna (Our Lady of the Herbs) in the Polish tradition. Fresh produce, flowers, and herbs are blessed on this day. Thank you to everyone who was able to bring some fresh vegetables, fruits, herbs, or flowers to place in baskets that will be in front of the altar. As in previous years, the produce will be donated to Loaves and Fishes. Some of the produce from our parish food garden will also be placed in the baskets. In many parts of rural Poland, some of the blessed flowers and herbs are taken home to place near a doorway as a symbol of our prayers for the home and for everyone who lives there

EXPRESSION OF SYMPATHY: At Mass last Sunday, we prayed for the soul of Gerry, brother of Father Dennis. Eternal rest grant onto him, O Lord. Wieczny odpoczynek racz Mu dac Panie. Prayers and expressions of friendship are also extended to Father Dennis and his family.

STO LAT! Happy birthday (August 17) to Sophie O’Toole. Wishing you lots of health and happiness, Sophie! Thanks for your dedication to our parish. Wszystkiego dobrego!

FOOD CUPBOARD: If you are attending Mass this Sunday, we would be so grateful if you could bring a non-perishable or personal care item for the Food Cupboard. In particular, personal care items (soap, shampoo, etc) appear to be especially needed at this time. Also, nutritious non-perishable breakfast items like cereal and peanut butter. Thanks for all your help! God bless!

LOOKING FOR SIMPLE, NUTRITIOUS POLISH RECIPES: The Good Food Bus would like to distribute little recipe cards during Nova Scotia Polish Heritage Month (September).

Sifting through family history and legend, Ed will tell the story of two charismatic and mercurial men who embodied the Polish experience in Glace Bay during the twentieth century.
