POP-UP MUSEUM -- “SEARCHING FOR POLISH CAPE BRETON”: Please mark in your calendar Tuesday, December 3, at the Polish Village Hall. This is a friendly invitation to everyone to think about items that you might like to bring in (eg. old documents, artifacts). Photos and albums are also of great interest. A “pop-up museum” is basically a participatory event – one of the purposes is to help each other “fill in blanks” and better understand/interpret the documents and artifacts. We will take photos of all the items for archiving in the Beaton Institute, and staff of the Beaton Institute will be on hand to discuss ways to permanently preserve items.  The pop-up museum will be co-hosted by the St. Michael’s Polish Benefit Society and the CBU Tompkins Institute.

110th ANNIVERSARY SUPPER FOR ST. MICHAEL’S POLISH BENEFIT SOCIETY: Saturday, September 14 at 7:00pm. Tickets are $20 each and can be purchased from Tom Urbaniak. To reserve, email Tom at tom_urbaniak@cbu.ca or leave a voicemail at 563-1226. Tom will be in touch after August 27th.

FILM SCREENING: The film Unplanned will be shown at St. Theresa’s Parish Centre, 285 St. Peters Rd. on Sunday, Sept. 8. at 6:30pm. Free will offering. All are welcome.

ANTIGONISH DIOCESE ANNIVERSARY: Our diocese is celebrating its 150th anniversary on Sunday, Sept. 15 at St. Ninian’s Cathedral in Antigonish. St. Mary’s Polish church has been asked to send a “family” of 3 or 4 people in traditional costumes to attend and bring up our traditional bread and salt as offertory gifts. If interested, please call Stephanie Black (902-578-3697) or email Tom Urbaniak (tom_urbaniak@cbu.ca) as they need to know the names as soon as possible. Gas will be paid by Rada

TRANSLATION OF TODAY’S SECOND READING FROM HEBREWS 12:1-4 Brothers and sisters: since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, who for the sake of the joy that was set before him endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider Jesus who endured such hostility against himself from sinners, so that you may not grow weary or lose heart. In your struggle against sin you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood.
