TRANSLATION OF TODAY’S SECOND READING FROM PAUL’S LETTER TO THE COLOSSIANS: Christ Jesus is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For in him were created all things in heaven and on earth, the visible and the invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers; all things were created through him and for him.  He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. He is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things he himself might be preeminent.  For in him all the fullness was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile all things for him, making peace by the blood of his cross through him, whether those on earth or those in heaven.

A NOTE FROM FR. RICH PHILIPOSKI (former pastor)

Dear Parishioners and Friends at St. Mary’s Polish Church:

Niech Będzie Pochwalony Jezus Chrystus!

This coming September, 2019, I will, God willing, observe and celebrate the 40th Anniversary of my ordination to the priesthood. I was ordained on September 14th (Exaltation of the Holy Cross Feast) in 1979 at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Wyandotte, Michigan by Bishop Arthur Krawczak.

As I learned that the anniversary of St. Michael's Society in Sydney will take place on that day, as well as the fact that my only nephew can come only the following weekend. Therefore, I will have a celebration on Saturday, September 21st with a special Mass of Thanksgiving at Our Lady of Las Vegas Church.

I would be most honored to have some parishioners from my previous parishes present to participate together with me in the celebration.

I have a very special place in my heart for your parish that I had the privilege of being assigned two times.  I am going to establish a travel subsidy fund (of monies that are being reimbursed from monthly charges of service contract to the parish computer that was charged on my personal credit card) and also add some additional money to that account. Depending on the number of people that would like to come, there will be a subsidy of perhaps at least $200 or more per person. If there would be 10 persons that would like to come, I could work on getting a group fare from Sydney or Halifax to Las Vegas. I would work on my end for a discounted hotel package, or home accommodations as I have some parishioners with large homes that provide free accommodation for several days. I would arrange for some sightseeing as well as getting some show tickets in Las Vegas.

I plan on coming to Sydney to witness the wedding of Jeffery MacCormack and Nicole Baker on Saturday, August 3rd.   I will arrive on Wednesday, July 31st to offer the 6:30pm Mass and Novena. We could have a Vegas Trip meeting afterwards in the hall if there are parishioners interested.

Looking forward to seeing you all in Cape Breton at the end of next month, I remain

Sincerely in Christ,

Father Rich Philiposki S.Chr.
