OGŁOSZENIA / ANNOUNCEMENTS

A NOTE ON WEDNESDAY MASS: There will be NO Mass on Wed., Feb. 6, and Wed., Feb. 13, as Fr. Dennis will be away.

LUNCH AFTER MASS TODAY: Everyone is welcome. There is no charge. We will gather in Sala 1050 (the hall attached to the back of the church). During the lunch after Mass today, as part of the background piano music, Bob Lewandowski will play Siyahamba – We are Marching in the Light of God. This is a beautiful Zulu song that has been translated into many languages. It’s appropriate for Swieto Matki Bozej Gromnicznej/Candlemas Day as we remind ourselves to be a sacred, living, holy light in the world. Through our acts kindness and generosity – by being people of compassion -- we can make a difference. The verses are …
We are Marching in the Light of God (repeated)
We are Living in the Love of God (repeated)
We are Moving in the Light of God (repeated)
In the original Zulu: Siyahamb' ekukhanyeni kwenkos, Siyahamba ekukhanyeni kwenkos'

LOAVES AND FISHES: Thank you to everyone who brought a non-perishable item for Loaves and Fishes. There will be a box to receive these contributions in the lunch area.

BLESSING OF CANDLES: At lunch today after Mass, Fr. Dennis will bless candles. The candles (unlit) will be centrepieces on the table. You are welcome to take one home. In the Polish tradition, the blessed candles are placed in a window or held at a doorway as the family prays for safety and  for people suffering from natural disasters. Often, the blessed candles are specially decorated. If you take a candle home, and if you wish, please place a small donation in the envelope on the table. Anything included in the envelopes will be sent to Development and Peace – Caritas Canada (the Canadian Catholic global humanitarian agency) to help with natural disaster relief.

HELPING OUT THE WHITNEY PIER YOUTH CLUB: Whitney Pier Boys' and Girls' Club (Youth Club) has asked us to help them out with Family Day celebrations at the club on Monday, Feb 18th. We are making sandwiches and soup for them. They will supply the food and we will prepare it. We would be most grateful for some parishioners to lend a hand making sandwiches on Sunday, Feb. 17th, at 1:00pm in our Sala 1050.  A few members of the Community Kitchen Project have also volunteered to help.

WHITNEY PIER COMMUNITY KITCHEN PROJECT: Everyone is welcome. Meals are served every Wednesday from 11:30am to 1:00pm in our Sala 1050. Meals are free of charge or donate what you can. Feedback has been very positive. If you are interested in volunteering, please call 902-563-1226. Thanks to all the volunteers and sponsors..
