RINGING OF BELLS AS A CALL FOR PEACE: Among the recent postings on our parish Facebook are the chimes playing at our church on Remembrance Day at sundown. We received a lot of positive feedback on this.

A NOTE ON ST. CECILIA (FEAST DAY: NOV. 22) AND THE CHOIR OF ST. MARY'S POLISH CHURCH: St. Cecilia, martyred around the year 230 in Rome because of her Christian faith, sang to God as she lay dying. She is the patron saint of the Choir of St. Mary’s Polish Parish and of church music more generally. It was Father Leo O’Connell who began calling our choir after St. Cecilia.
St. Cecilia Novena Prayer (Day 1): Eternal God, you gave us the gift of St. Cecilia, a powerful protector and patron of music. We strive to pass our days faithfully and innocently like holy St. Cecilia so that we may come to Heaven where we may praise You in concert with her. Lord, have mercy on us. Christ, have mercy on us. Lord, have mercy on us. Christ, hear us.

“Praying means knocking at the door of a friend. God is our friend.” – A recent message on Twitter from Pope Francis
