OGŁOSZENIA / ANNOUNCEMENTS

FATHER RICH REPORTS:
Niech Bedzie Pochwalony Jezus Chrystus! Praise be Jesus Christ!
Dear Parishioners & Friends:
Although the liturgical calendar for the Christmas season ended last Monday with the Feast of the Baptism of Jesus, in Polish church tradition it is extended somewhat as a few "kolędy" carols are still sung at Mass until the grand finale on the Feast of the Presentation of Jesus in the Temple (also known as Candlemas Day or Our Lady of the Candles). In Polish, it is called "Matki Boskiej Gromicznej". This year it falls on Friday, February 2nd. On that day there will be an earlier Mass at 6:00pm in church. We will bless candles and have a procession around the church singing our beloved "kolędy" for the last time. Afterwards at the Polish Village Hall will be the "Polski Piatek" (Polish Friday) celebration.
I want to thank all parishioners who invited me to visit and bless their homes and residences this year. I have finished most of my visits with just a few more to do this week. I also thank you for your personal gifts to me.
Tom Urbaniak and I met on Friday with Art Fennell (sign artist) to discuss the donor recognition plaque work. There are many things to consider on how we will have the wording as well as categories. Since it will take some time to begin this work, I would extend the opportunity again to the end of January.  There is still the opportunity to memorialize your deceased loved one(s) or family that were part of St. Mary’s Parish. The offering requested is $200.  Even though we may have sufficient funds already to complete the kitchen, there will be other things and projects to improve and beautify our church and parish facilities.
As it is sometimes difficult with our new money bills to place them in the offering boxes for the votive candles, we will have a small basket nearby to leave your offering. The large five-day votive candles that burn before the images of the Merciful Jesus (Divine Mercy) and Our Lady of Czestochowa are available to light for the offering of five dollars.   As we enter further into the New Year that the Lord has given us may we be faithful in whatever resolutions and intentions we have to improve our lives both physically and spiritually.
Have a blessed week !

PARISH OPŁATEK POTLUCK: Please join us this afternoon at 2:00 pm (until 4:00pm) at the Polish Village Hall for our parish’s annual Opłatek Potluck. Each year for the past 105 years, the parish has had this meal and sharing of the Opłatek Christmas wafer as a special way to conclude the Christmas season. Everyone is welcome. There is no charge. We are grateful to anyone who can bring a dish. Also, please bring a non-perishable item for Loaves and Fishes if possible. Please invite family and friends. Do zobaczenia. See you this afternoon. Bóg zapłać!

NEXT POLSKI PIĄTEK: (Polish Friday) Friday, February 2nd, after 6:00 pm Mass. Theme: Polish Candlemas traditions. No charge. Location: Polish Village, downstairs. There will be food (grateful to anyone who can bring a dish) and cash bar.

A MESSAGE FROM STELLA PARUCH: Stella would like to sincerely thank all fellow parishioners for your warm kindness, care and support. Thank you for your prayers for the soul of son Kenny. Thank you for your condolences and prayers for the entire family. Bóg zapłać!

COMMUNITY KITCHEN PROJECT: As previously reported, as a follow-up to the Pier Community Development Walks, a few faith communities and others are discussing working together to resume the weekly Pier community meals (Loaves and Fishes satellite service) previously offered at Trinity United Church before it closed in 2013, when the site became unavailable. The concept is that the collaborating groups/ inter-faith steering committee would use our kitchen (after it’s completed) and Sala for this weekly service to the community, since our location is central and wheelchair-accessible. We are having a focus group lunch meeting to further discuss this on Tuesday from 11:45 am to 1:00 pm in our church. Anyone from our parish who may be interested and would like to be there is most welcome. If you would like to attend, please call 902-563-1226.
