“IMIENINY” (NAME DAYS) FOR THE COMING WEEK. Help to maintain a longstanding Polish Catholic tradition by acknowledging relatives, friends, and colleagues who are celebrating their “name day,” corresponding with the feast day of a saint of the same name.  Where there is more than one saint of the same name who has been assigned a day, your “name day” is the one closest to your birthday. It is customary in the Polish tradition to acknowledge the name day of a relative or friend:
September 25: Aurelia, Franciszek
September 26: Cyprian, Justyna
September 27: Kamil; Amadeusz, Damian
September 28: Jan, Luba, Lubosza, Marek, Nikita

OGŁOSZENIA / ANNOUNCEMENTS

FATHER RICH REPORTS:
Niech Bedzie Pochwalony Jezus Chrystus! Na wieki wiekow Amen!

God’s Word to us this Sunday warns us of enjoying a life of luxury and leisure, without regard for others who are not as fortunate as we are. The parable of the rich man and Lazarus illustrates what the tragic fate can be of those who have no concern for others.

Please remember Catholic etiquette when you come into church on Sunday or any day for Holy Mass. 1) Place finger  or hand in holy water font and then make the sign of the Cross that reminds us of our baptism in the name of the Holy Trinity. 2) Genuflect on one knee (health permitting) or make a bow in direction of the tabernacle in the centre of the sanctuary where we have the true presence of the Lord Jesus in the Eucharist. Then we enter the pew where we hopefully have time for our personal prayer before Mass begins. I noticed at my first Sunday Mass on Sept. 11th that there was a lot of out loud chatting and talking before Mass! We need to go back to quiet time for those who wish to pray. We can socialize outside before Mass or after. We will soon get access to our Sala 1050 where we will be able to share hospitality and conversation after Mass.

SPONSORSHIP APPEAL
I am happy to report an excellent response to the appeal in last week’s bulletin for sponsors of the sacred objects purchased in Poland for the parish: Statues of St. Monica: Vicky Aucoin, St.Stanislaus the Bishop: Janina Mac Cormack, two  gold vestments of Divine Mercy and St. John Paul II by  Teresa Kelly (Jockemeck), another white and multi-coloured chasuble of St. John Paul II and the Merciful Jesus by Shirley Ardelli. “Bog Zaplac” May God reward your generosity! We need yet a sponsor for the altar cloth and the amount was wrong from last week’s bulletin as it is only $150.00

CATECHETICAL SUNDAY
As the school year begins across Canada in September, religious education or catechism classes also begin in most parishes. Please read the letter from Bishop Brian Dunn regarding the importance of bringing and forming our children in the faith that we pass from generation to generation.

PREP (Parish Religious Education Program) CLASSES REGISTRATION
This Sunday (and next) we will register children (grade 1 thru 8/9) for our PREP classes that we hope to begin also next Sunday. There will be 3 classes: 1.) Pre-Communion & Confession 2) Post- Communion and 3) Pre-Confirmation.  There is no fee except for a book or materials fee (to be determined). Classes will take place after Sunday morning Mass from about 11 to 12 noon. The classes will end with praying (or singing) the Angelus in church. Parents please take seriously the baptismal promises (vows) you made at your child’s baptism

FIRST SATURDAY MASS AT 8:30 AM
Every 1st Saturday of the month we will celebrate a Mass (votive in honour of the Blessed Mother) at 8:30 a.m. Prior to Mass will be the opportunity to come to Reconciliation (confession) and pray the rosary. After Mass the litany will be said.

NEW DIVINE MERCY PICTURE
Replacing the picture painted by the late John Tynski is the new picture painted in Poland. This larger picture of the Merciful Jesus was sponsored by Shirley Ardelli and her family. We will bless the image this Sunday at the end of the Mass. Eventually there will be some votive prayer candles (real or electric) and stands that will stand before or next to the sacred pictures. Every Friday, the chaplet will be recited or sung after Mass before the Blessed Sacrament followed by Benediction.

NEW SAINT MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL PICTURE
Next Sunday (Oct. 2) we will bless the new picture painted by the same artist Jan Gyofri as the original destroyed in the fire. After Mass everyone in attendance is invited to the St. Michael Society Polish Village Hall for cake, coffee or tea.

OUR HERITAGE PILGRIMAGE TOUR TO POLAND & UKRAINE 2017
We will have a little later this Fall, an informational meeting to plan for a parish trip to Poland that will cross over into Western Ukraine (Lwow, Ogrodek Jagiellonski Wolczuchy, Rodatycze) for a couple of days. Most of our immigrant ancestors originated in Galicia. Father Rich has organized several pilgrimage tours to Poland from Las Vegas, Toledo Baltimore, Wilno (Canada’s first Polish parish) and the Detroit area. Keep posted for more news about this!

MASS INTENTIONS
With the forthcoming new Mass schedule, we are able to accommodate more Masses. At least one Sunday a month I must offer a pro-populo Mass for all the parishioners of all the three parishes. However, there will be an additional Sunday Mass at 4 p.m. and nearly every weekday Mass will be offered. Mass intentions include not only praying for our deceased loved ones, but also for health and blessings for the living, remembering birthdays and anniversaries and also in giving thanks.

PHASE 2 OF OUR CONSTRUCTION: This started on Monday, September 12th and is going well. The first increment will include mechanical and electrical, ceiling, lighting, and drywall. The goal is to do enough work to get a basic occupancy permit for “Sala 1050” (back section) as soon as possible, and then work on the next steps (like the kitchen) following more fund-raising. This first increment should take 3-4 weeks.

FUND-RAISING FOR COMPLETION OF CONSTRUCTION: To complete Phase 2, we will still need to raise about $80,000. This will include several fall events, appeals for corporate and organizational sponsorships, and individual donations. Phase 2 rebuilding envelopes are at the back of the church.

Lay hold of eternal life, to which you were called when you made the noble confession in the presence of many witnesses. I charge you before God, who gives life to all things, and before Christ Jesus, who gave testimony under Pontius Pilate for the noble confession, to keep the commandment without stain or reproach until the appearance of our Lord Jesus Christ that the blessed and only ruler will make manifest at the proper time, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, who dwells in unapproachable light, and whom no human being has seen or can see. To him be honour and eternal power. Amen
