“IMIENINY” (NAME DAYS) FOR THE COMING WEEK. Help to maintain a longstanding Polish Catholic tradition by acknowledging relatives, friends, and colleagues who are celebrating their “name day,” corresponding with the feast day of a saint of the same name.  Where there is more than one saint of the same name who has been assigned a day, your “name day” is the one closest to your birthday. It is customary in the Polish tradition to acknowledge the name day of a relative or friend:
August 28: Adelina, Aleksander
August 29: Gita, Jan, Sabina
August 30: Miron, Rebeka, Róża
August 31: Bohdan, Paulina, Rajmund
September 1: Bronisław, Bronisława, Bronisz
September 2: Henryk, Julian, Stefan, Tobiasz; Antoni, Bartłomiej, Bronisław, Bronisz, Izabela, Jan, Joachim

RENEWING OUR FAITH ON THE OCCASION OF THE 1050th ANNIVERSARY OF THE BAPTISM OF POLAND:
“Dzisiaj polskie parafie dokonują Aktu Zawierzenia Matce Bożej Królowej Polski. Jest to kolejny etap obchodów Jubileuszu 1050-lecia Chrztu Polski. Wcześniej, w uroczystość Matki Bożej Królowej Polski 3 maja br. nowy akt zawierzenia został odnowiony i razem z tym z 1966 r. umieszczony w specjalnej tubie obok Cudownego Obrazu Matki Bożej Częstochowskiej.”
“Today (August 26 – the feast of Our Lady of Czestochowa), the Polish parishes renew their Act of Consecration to Our Lady, Queen of Poland. This is another part of the celebration of the 1050th anniversary of Poland’s Baptism. Earlier this year, on 3 May, the Solemnity of Our Lady, Queen of Poland, a new Act of Consecration was made and placed, along with that of 1966, in a special cylinder next to the Miraculous Image of Our Lady of Czestochowa.”
- Archbishop Wojciech Polak, Primate of Poland

SPECIAL PRAYERS: Sept. 1 is the anniversary of the start of World War II, the most murderous war in history. It started in the early hours of that morning when Germany invaded Poland. We pray for all victims of war and oppression, and for God’s peace to reign in our world. We also heed Pope Francis’s call to pray the Rosary for the victims of the terrible earthquake in Italy and other recent natural disasters
