“IMIENINY” (NAME DAYS) FOR THE COMING WEEK. Help to maintain a longstanding Polish Catholic tradition by acknowledging relatives, friends, and colleagues who are celebrating their “name day,” corresponding with the feast day of a saint of the same name.  Where there is more than one saint of the same name who has been assigned a day, your “name day” is the one closest to your birthday. It is customary in the Polish tradition to acknowledge the name day of a relative or friend:
July 10: Aleksander, Amelia, Aniela, Filip
July 11: Cyprian, Kalina, Olga
July 12: Andrzej, Feliks, Henryk, Paweł, Piotr,  Weronika
July 13: Ernest, Eugeniusz, Jakub, Justyna, Małgorzata, Radomiła, Sara
July 14: Damian, Dobrogost, Franciszek, Izabela, Marcelina
July 15: Daniel, Dawid, Henryk, Iga, Ignacy

A NOTE FROM FR. RICH PHILIPOSKI

Dear Parishioners and Friends of St. Mary’s Polish Church,

Niech Bedzie Pochwalony Jezus Chrystus! May Jesus Christ be Praised!

It was a great honour and privilege for me and my Provincial-Superior to be able to participate in the Mass of Consecration of your (our) newly built church last Sunday and be with you.

I want to thank and congratulate all of you especially Father Paul Murphy, pastor and Tom Urbaniak, Rada Chairman and all other Rada, other committee members and parishioners that have worked tirelessly over the past year and a half to cooperate with God’s graces and blessings in realizing the miracle of “Odnowa” (Renewal) in building a beautiful house of worship to gather the community in prayer as the Holy Mass and Sacraments are again celebrated.

I look forward to having the five youth and two chaperones joining our Las Vegas Pilgrimage Group to World Youth Days in Krakow, Poland next week. Please pray for the safe journeys for all of us and also the blessings of spiritual fruits upon our and all youth coming from all over the world to celebrate our Catholic Faith.

My planned arrival back in Sydney and assuming the duties of your parish priest will begin on Saturday, September 10th.  I hope we may have the blessing of the two holy pictures being painted in Poland (Divine Mercy image of Jesus & Our Lady of Czestochowa) at that time and their placement on the side walls of the sanctuary of the church.

It is my plan that we will have our own religious education program called PREP (Parish Religious Education Program) classes begin by late September. Hopefully we will have at least 3 classes: Pre-Communion (grades 1-2), Post Communion (grades 3-4-5) and Pre- Confirmation (grades 6-7-8) and older if necessary. We will be looking for volunteer catechist-teachers to assist in the program. The classes would take place after Sunday Mass.

We will restore weekday Masses by mid-September with some morning and some evening Masses as well as para-liturgical devotions. Hopefully the principal Sunday Mass will be scheduled at a somewhat later time as many have requested.

Once again a sincere “Bog zaplac” (May God reward you!) to all of you for welcoming my Provincial-Superior (Fr. Pawel Bandurski) and me to St. Mary’s.

Have a blessed week,

Father Rich
