“IMIENINY” (NAME DAYS) FOR THE COMING WEEK. Help to maintain a longstanding Polish Catholic tradition by acknowledging relatives, friends, and colleagues who are celebrating their “name day,” corresponding with the feast day of a saint of the same name.  Where there is more than one saint of the same name who has been assigned a day, your “name day” is the one closest to your birthday. It is customary in the Polish tradition to acknowledge the name day of a relative or friend:
February 28: Józef, Roman, Lech
February 29: Roman
March 1: Albin, Antoni, Antonina, Amelia, Feliks, Herakles, Joanna, Józef, Piotr
March 2: Franciszek, Helena, Henryk, Krzysztof, Michał, Paweł, Piotr, Radosław

WOULD YOU LIKE TO MEET WITH THE POLISH CONSUL ON FRIDAY?: Aleksandra Kucy, Consul of Poland, will be in Sydney and offering any consular services/meetings (Dyżur konsularny) this Friday morning (March 4). Would you like to meet with her on any issue or question (eg. travel, services/programs of the Polish government)? If you would like a meeting (it can be in Polish or English), please book in advance by contacting Tom Urbaniak (902-563-1226; tom_urbaniak@cbu.ca). Meetings would be at our parish glebe house.  (Ms. Kucy will also be touring our church construction site and the Polish Village Hall late in the day on Thursday.)

PARTIAL TRANSLATION OF THE FIRST READING (EXODUS 3:1-8A, 13-15): Moses said to God, “But when I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ if they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ what am I to tell them?” God replied, “I am who am.” Then he added, “This is what you shall tell the Israelites: I AM sent me to you.” God spoke further to Moses, “Thus shall you say to the Israelites: The LORD, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. “This is my name forever; thus am I to be remembered through all generations.”

ST. CASIMIR: ONE OF THE MAIN PATRON SAINTS OF POLAND AND LITHUANIA (Feast day March 4): Although St. Casimir died at the young age of 25 (in 1484), his short time as prince-regent of Poland was marked by tolerance, and a search for peace.  St. Casimir followed a simple, prayerful life. He did not like wealthy trappings. He wanted noble families share their bounty with the poor.  As we take part in our communities as citizens, and as we assume leadership roles in our parish and in community organizations, we ask for the same grace and wisdom. Święty Kazimierz, módł się za nami! St. Casimir, pray for us!
