“IMIENINY” (NAME DAYS) FOR THE COMING WEEK. Help to maintain a longstanding Polish Catholic tradition by acknowledging relatives, friends, and colleagues who are celebrating their “name day,” corresponding with the feast day of a saint of the same name.  Where there is more than one saint of the same name who has been assigned a day, your “name day” is the one closest to your birthday. It is customary in the Polish tradition to acknowledge the name day of a relative or friend:
February 7: Alfons, Romuald, Rozalia, Ryszard
February 8: Gniewomir, Jan, Paweł, Piotr, Sebastian
February 9: Bernard, Eryk, Eryka, Mariusz
February 10: Gabriel, Jacek, Erica, P, Vs, Nie Elwira
February 11: Lucjan, Maria, Olgierd, Świętomira

OGŁOSZENIA / ANNOUNCEMENTS

LUNCH AFTER MASS TODAY IN THE POLISH VILLAGE HALL: Everyone is welcome. We will mark Tłusty czwartek (Polish pre-Lent tradition). We will have a re-building update. If you brought an item for Loaves and Fishes today, please deposit it at the entrance to the hall. Dziekujemy bardzo!

FLOODS IN SOUTH INDIA--APPEAL FROM FATHER RAJ: More than 5,000 people have lost their lives or are missing. More than 1.8 million people have been displaced as a result of terrible floods in November and December. Father Raj describes the situation as “desperate.” His parish is overwhelmed, and people are taking shelter in churches and halls. If you would like to donate, please put your donation in an envelope marked “India Relief” and deposit with the collection.  We will work with Stella Maris (Louisbourg) to get these funds to Father Raj’s region. Also, Stella Maris (Louisbourg) will have a silent auction and tea to raise funds for relief, today, Sunday, February 7th, at 2 p.m. at the Louisbourg Fire Hall ($10 admission). We are all invited. THE 1050th ANNIVERSARY OF CHISTIANITY IN POLAND (966-2016): In 966, the king of Poland, Mieszko I, converted to Christianity and also encouraged his subjects to learn more about and follow the example of Jesus. For 1,050 years, Christianity and Catholicism have animated the Polish identity and culture in major ways. Faith and culture have become deeply intertwined. Faith in Jesus and the intercession of the Blessed Mother have given hope to the Polish people during very difficult times. At the same time, many governments of free Poland over the centuries have recognized that the Gospel requires respecting the rights of non-Christian religious minorities.  This year – the 1,050th anniversary of Christianity in Poland -- is a major anniversary for people around the world who identify in whatever way with the Polish heritage. It’s why Pope Francis decided to hold World Youth Day in Krakow. In the weeks ahead, let’s discuss as a parish how we will recognize this major, holy milestone milestone.
