“IMIENINY” (NAME DAYS) FOR THE COMING WEEK. Help to maintain a longstanding Polish Catholic tradition by acknowledging relatives, friends, and colleagues who are celebrating their “name day,” corresponding with the feast day of a saint of the same name.  Where there is more than one saint of the same name who has been assigned a day, your “name day” is the one closest to your birthday. It is customary in the Polish tradition to acknowledge the name day of a relative or friend:
October 18: Julian, Łukasz
October 19: Ferdynand, Piotr
October 20: Irena, Urszula
October 21: Bernard, Celina
October 22: Filip, Halka
October 23: Iga, Ignacy, Jan, Marlena, Roman
October 24: Antoni, Boleczest, Filip, Marcin, Rafaela, Rafał
October 25: Daria, Kryspin

OGŁOSZENIA / ANNOUNCEMENTS

EXTERIOR COLOUR FOR OUR CHURCH – RESULTS OF LAST WEEK’S VOTING : The first-choice votes were as follow: Option A: 20 votes; Option B: 1 vote; Option C: 9 votes; Option D: 33 votes. Since Option D (savannah wicker) received more than half the first-choice votes, it was not necessary to go to a second round of balloting. Thanks to everyone who participated in the voting last Sunday. The colours have now been ordered.

REBUILDING UPDATE:  The framing (putting up exterior walls) has begun! At our last update meeting with fellow parishioners after Mass on October 4, the Rada reported that we were working with the insurance company to ensure that many of the professional fees (architect, engineer, surveyor, etc) come under what is called “extensions of coverage” (not the core construction budget). This is according to our original understanding. This has been resolved mostly in our favour ($52,000 out of $61,000 coming from extensions) – which is good news -- but we have a meeting on Wednesday to resolve some of the professional fees going forward. Overall, we are trying to hold the construction budget for Phase I (main church plus basic shell of the reception area, with some servicing) to between $1.330 million and $1.350 million. Our construction manager, Howie Doiron, has been very diligent. Phase II (completion of kitchen and reception area/ small library/reading room/meeting and rehearsal area) is to be put in over time as we continue our fund-raising and as we obtain in-kind help.   As reported earlier, part of Phase I, plus Phase II and all contents are relying on donations, because the insurance settlement for core construction is very tightly capped at $1.288 million. As always, we are deeply grateful for any donations to the rebuilding, which will be recognized in the new church. Our next meeting with the full parish will be on November 1 after Mass. In the meantime, many thanks to the working groups, which are putting in a lot of effort! Dziekujemy i Bog zaplac! And please don’t hesitate to speak with any member of the Rada if you would like more details on any aspect of rebuilding.

A NOTE FROM FATHER PAUL: Marriage: In this upcoming Year of God’s Mercy, I would like to extend an invitation to any of you whose marriages were not celebrated or blessed in a Catholic Church by a Catholic priest or Catholic deacon.  If you would like to have your marriage blessed, regardless of how long ago you were married civilly, and if I can do so in keeping with Church Law, I will be only too happy to do so. And if you are in a situation where one or both of you need an annulment of a previous marriage, I will do my best to help you there too. Think it over and if you wish to have your marriage blessed, please give me a call. – Father Paul
